A bigger, brighter Beachbreak Cafe has gone through a remodeling project in Santa Barbara that lets more sunshine in - just in time for summer.
Owner Joe Lyons says after culinary schooling at Santa Barbara City College, and work for the popular local band Toad the Wet Sprocket, he turned his interests to the restaurant business.
The Beachbreak is located on lower State Street near the corner of Gutierrez. This week it celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Recent improvements revealed more windows allowing the sun to beam in to the comfy booths. The restaurant has both inside and outside dining areas.
New artwork from Brad Nack has also gone up.
From the grill, family style meals are served up including hearty breakfast omelettes, Hawaiian Bread French Toast, burgers, burritos, salads, and custom dishes named for area landmarks like the Rincon.
Lyons says he is proud of his "old school" Santa Barbara style. "We aren't one of these new fancy places. We have great honest food at great honest prices," said Lyons.
He says most meals are $8.00 - $9.00.
The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, and closes every day by 2 p.m.
