Babysitter arrested for child abuse after child found roaming in Grover Beach

GROVER BEACH, Calif. - UPDATE

The babysitter of a child found by police in the 1400 block of Longbranch Avenue has been arrested for child endangerment and abuse.

Officers took the found child into protective custody while they searched for the child's parents and/or guardian.

The Grover Beach Police Department said that at about 2 p.m., officers located 26-year-old Amelia Arroyo-Colin, of Grover Beach, at her home and identified her as the child's babysitter.

Police took five other children into protective custody as a result of their investigation. Child Welfare Services were notified of the incident.

The child found was turned over to her parents and the five other children were turned over to relatives of Arroyo-Colin.

Arroyo-Colin was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on abandonment and neglect of children and inflicting corporal injury upon a child. Both are felony charges.

The Grover Beach police need the community's help identifying a little girl they found in the 1400 block of Longbranch Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

The girl appears to have been found alone. She is described as Hispanic, between three and five years old, wearing a blue and pink floral outfit.

Police say the child is not able to communicate with investigators at this time and they have not located the child's parents or guardian.
