Special Olympics and Easy Lift hosted the annual R-Word campaign, to stop the derogatory use of the word "retard."
Organizers asked people to use the new R word- respect. Wednsday’s event took place at De la Guerra plaza around noon.
Several teen groups also participated including: the Boys and Girls club of Santa Barbara, the Special Olympics Club at Dos Pueblos High School, PathPoint and UC Santa Barbara Best Buddies.
