Senior Center celebrates Mardi Gras
Party included music, food and dancing
New Orleans wasn't the only place having Mardi Gras parties -- the Goleta Community Center was packed with seniors having their own Fat Tuesday fun.
The Senior Center hosted nearly 200 people who danced and listened to jazz music at the hall covered with Mardi Gras decorations, but it wasn't just music and costumes. All the guests were treated to homemade New Orleans style food like gumbo, Cajun pasta, red beans and rice, and bread pudding.
"This is our 10th anniversary so we decided to go all out and just show these seniors the good time they deserve to have," said Amy Mallett, senior director.
The seniors were also treated to view some animals from the bayou.
If you missed Tuesday's big party, there are activities year-round for seniors Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Goleta Community Center.
