SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

Santa Maria's chapter of the Boys and Girls Club has a lot to celebrate.

Thursday evening the non-profit organization hosted a celebrity waiter event, and KCOY's morning news anchor Danny Max served as the emcee. Everyone who showed up to volunteer or donate to the cause did so to honor the 8,300 young people whose lives the organization touches and impacts everyday of the year.

Dignitaries who attended the dinner included: Santa Maria Mayor Alice Patino, Mayor Pro Tem Etta Waterfield, and Congressional Candidate Justin Fareed. The event was hosted at the Santa Maria Country Club and reportedly raised a very generous amount of funding for the Santa Maria chapter.

Santa Maria's Boys and Girls Club has been awarded the "Gateway to Impact Award" for its status as the top performing chapter of the organization in the 9 state pacific region. The Chapter is run by Executive Director Jeremy Deming.

The evening's invocation was led by "Youth of the Year" Liset Vazquez.
