The Oxnard police department is investigating a car accident that killed an Oxnard man.

  It happened just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on Channel Islands Boulevard just east of Paula Street.

  Police say a driver was heading down the street when a 68-year old man walked into roadway.

  The pedestrian was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead.

  Police say they don't know why the man stepped into traffic.
