Montecito Motors Owners Make Court Appearance

Written by KEYT Sports

Four people connected to a Santa Barbara auto dealership accused of dozens of felonies including grand theft, embezzlement and tax evasion made an appearance in court on Thursday.

Montecito Motors owner Adam Taylor, his father Chet Taylor, Chet's wife Jennifer Taylor and his daughter Sarah Taylor-Swing all pleaded not guilty during Thursday's arraignment.

Adam and Chet Taylor remain in custody but will have a bail hearing on Tuesday to determine whether the current $1 million bail is appropriate. A preliminary hearing will then be held on January 13.

The Taylor's are facing a 59-charge complaint and their arrest came after an investigation that alleges Montecito Motors bilked 26 victims out of more than $1 million in bogus car consignment deals.

If convicted Adam and Chet Taylor could face more than 30 years in prison.
