Mayor accused of battery at high school where he works
Mother of student sparks misdemeanor investigation
Oxnard Mayor Tim Flynn has been accused of battery, but not at city hall. Flynn is a teacher at Pacifica High in Oxnard.
The mother of female student accused Flynn of battering her child during a classroom dispute.
To avoid any conflict of interest Oxnard police asked the Sheriff's Department to investigate. Deputies say battery is a form of physical contact. In this case, it could result in a misdemeanor charge or be dismissed.
Flynn returned to his classroom this week after missing several days last week.
The mayor and school district officials could not be reached for comment.
