Journalist and television host Lisa Ling will speak at UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday night.

Before heading to campus, Ling stopped by the NewsChannel 3 station to talk about how her career has shaped her life.

The 8-month pregnant Ling is a former CNN correspondent and is currently the host of "Our America with Lisa Ling" on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Lings said her favorite audience to talk to is young college-age students.

At the Arts & Lectures series, she will focus on something on the students minds: jobs and how to make yourself marketable.

Lings said travel is the key.

"People I know who've become the most successful are people who as young people really went beyond their comfort zone and took risks and spent time immersed in worlds that were unfamiliar to them because it changed the way they look at things. And while it may be scary, the idea of spending time in a place you're unfamiliar with, I guarantee that you will never regret it," she told NewsChannel 3.

Tickets are still available for the Arts & Lectures event at Campbell Hall. It starts at 8 p.m.
