January 30, 2012 - Haitian judge, Carves Jean, rules Duvalier cannot be tried on human rights violates committed during his 15 year presidency because the statute of limitation has run out on the alleged crimes that include torture, rape and murder. Craves ruling allows for Duvalier to be tried for corruption.
February 28, 2013 - Hearing on Justice Ministry appeal of 2012 ruling by Judge Carves on human rights violations. The hearing had been postponed three times for Duvalier's failure to appear.
February 2014 - Human rights charges against Duvalier are reinstated.
