VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. -

A head-on collision south of  Mugu Rock in Ventura County sent three people to the hospital.

It happened near La Jolla Canyon Road. California Highway Patrol officers closed the road around 9 a.m. to allow firefighters and ambulances to get to the crash quickly.
Emergency crews helped a young man get out of a Toyota Camry and a couple get out of rented Ford compact car.  CHP officers said the winding road was dry. They are still trying to figure out what caused the accident.

The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
