Downtown Oxnard is mourning the loss of its unofficial mayor. Harris Berger recently lost his battle with brain cancer. Berger was known for his involvement in decking the halls of Oxnard during the holidays. The 57-year-old was also a gay rights activist.
But he made his living as a Merchant Marine chef A celebration of Harris Berger's life will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Oxnard on Saturday.
