Stabbing Suspect Arrested
GOLETA, Calif. -

UPDATE - Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials have detained a stabbing suspect after a 30 minute manhunt in Goleta.

The search near Highway 101 and Turnpike forced the lockdown of El Camino Elementary and San Marcos High Schools.  That status was lifted before 2:00.

NewsChannel 3 heard scanner traffic of the stabbing incident just before 1:30 Thursday afternoon. Moments later, the sheriff's helicopter was ordered up into search mode.

Sheriff's officials confirm the suspect was caught in a field behind the Turnpike shopping center near San Simeon, minutes before the school lockdowns were cancelled.

At least one victim was transported to Cottage Hospital.
