Gas main break caused by backhoe
28 homes left without gas for hours

The Montecito Fire Protection District responded to a reported broken gas main near Butterfly and High roads.
The break happened when a backhoe accidentally hit a gas line while working in the area shortly before 11a.m. on Tuesday.
Montecito Fire reports 28 nearby homes in the area were without gas until the problem was fixed hours later by the Southern California Gas Company.
