The defense attorney for DUI suspect Tony Denunzio wants Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley to prosecute the case personally.

Last week, Dudley announced she will re-try Denunzio for driving under the influence. 

The first trial ended in a hung jury. 

The case was covered by local media because of allegations of police brutality during the arrest.  Denunzio's attorney, Darryl Genis released a statement that reads in part:

"Perhaps you will personally handle the re-trial of people vs. Denunzio.  As the Hallmark slogan goes: "when you care enough to send the very best... do you care enough to send your very best?"

Dudley has not responded to the statement.
