VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. -

One of the victims of the cop killer shooting spree got his law enforcement training in Ventura County.

Keith Lawrence trained with the Oxnard Police Department at the Ventura County Sheriff's Academy a few years ago.

The training helped Lawrence become a public safety officer at USC.

Lawrence is also being remembered as a star athlete at Moorpark High.

Lawrence was shot to death with his fiance in Irvine.

His fiance's father was the lawyer who represented the suspected gunman, Christopher Dorner,  at a tribunal before he was fired.
