Car chase ends in Santa Barbara

Officers force driver and passengers out at gunpoint

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Officers say a misunderstanding led to a chase on Highway 101.  It began just before ten Saturday night.

We're told sheriff's deputies attempted to pull the car over at Santa Monica Road in Carpinteria.  The driver took off.

The chase ended near the Cabrillo Boulevard exit in Santa Barbara.  Officers forced the driver and two passengers out of the car at gunpoint.

According to the CHP, the men in the car were from  another country and were unfamiliar with American traffic laws.
