Goleta Beach 2.0 Proposal Scheduled Today

The Santa Barbara Parks Department will present its "Goleta Beach 2.0" proposal today.

The department hopes the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors will approve the multi-million dollar project.

The Goleta Beach Project has been a hot topic in the county for years. It centers around how to best guard against storm erosion while not causing environmental damage.

The coastal commission rejected the county plan last year, so the parks department will present its new plan at today's public hearing.

If the board passes the new beach project a majority of the funds will come through grants and money that's been set aside.
