New Health Insurance Pool For At Risk Californians

Written by KEYT Reporter

A health insurance pool for Californians with pre-existing conditions is getting a jump start on National Health Care Reform.

Governor Schwarzenegger signed bills this week that will create a pool right away rather than waiting until 2014 when the reform law will ban insurance companies from denying adult coverage.

The state will collect more than 760 million federal dollars for the program that will bridge the gap.

Like the health bill, reaction to the pool is mixed.

California's Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board is already taking names.

But the board still has to create the application form.
