Santa barbara construction crews are moving quickly to finish of their improvements before the high tourist season begins. The section of Cabrillo between State and Castillo has seen many new updates as part of the city's beautification project.

Crews started the project last July and since then they have made several improvements, aesthetically and structurally. But for some of the nearby hotels the project has affected some guests staying overnight. New, bolder brick cross walks have been put in as well as islands and disabled ramps. Local artists also created artwork out of ceramic tiles along the new sidewalks. The construction should be completed by mid-April.
