SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Police Department will soon be receiving 150 new non lethal Tasers.
They will replace the Tasers officers currently carry that were first introduced about 15 years ago. The department says they are outdated.
The upgraded model is the P26X (as shown) and are similar in size.
All officers carry Tasers after they go to specific training. The weapon is one way police control suspects depending on the situation.
The Taser purchase will cost $200,000 and the funds have been approved by the Santa Barbara City Council.
