ORCUTT, Calif. - Several Orcutt residents were fortunate to leave their home injury-free after a 100-foot pine tree fell on top of their home from their neighbor's yard Wednesday.
Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni said the tree heavily damaged the garage and main residence but no injuries were reported. Several people were inside the home at the time the tree fell.
The incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of Martin Avenue in Orcutt.
A nearby power pole fell with the tree sprawling live wires across the ground. PG&E crews were able to shut power down to those wires, and fire crews will be on scene for several hours cleaning up debris.
The American Red Cross and a Building Department representative were notified of the incident and will be assisting the residents of the home, Zaniboni said.
No further details were immediately known.
