Slideshow: Annual Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp Takes Over UCSB

The annual camp is celebrating 30 years of providing wheelchair sports to kids between the ages of 6 and 19 years old.

Counselors and instructors are wheelchair users themselves and many of them were former campers as well just like Crystal Hernandez from Santa Paula.  She has been attending the camp since she was 10 and now she's in her 8th year of being a counselor.

"I wanted to do for the kids what the counselors did for me which was inspire me and push me to do things that I didn't think I could do," said Hernandez. "It's special because a lot of these kids don't know what they are capable of until they are here and when you see that spark in their eyes you know you triggered that feeling in them."

Funding from the Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation allows all campers to attend the week for free.
