SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - UPDATE:
Friday afternoon Pacific Surfliner tweeted that passenger train service will resume Saturday the 16th between Oxnard, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo stations.
This includes service to all intermediate stations such as Surf Beach and Goleta.
Amtrak has shut down its train and bus services south of Santa Barbara due to the Thomas Fire.
The fire is sending many like Damien Guzman scrambling to make new arrangements to get home.
"It's been tough, just trying to get back home and see the family," said Guzman, who was planning on taking the train from San Luis Obispo to Oxnard. "Just take the bus for now. I asked if the buses are running at least, and they said yes, so hopefully I'll get there on time."
However, the bus will only take him as far south as Santa Barbara. Amtrak says both train and bus services have been shut down.
Train and bus routes north of San Luis Obispo are operating as normal.
