LOMPOC, Calif. - A bench commemorating Noah Scott, a Lompoc teenager who passed away from cancer earlier this year, was unveiled Saturday morning.
Near the baseball fields at John Manville Park, Noah's father Charles Scott called it a fitting place for a permanent reminder of his son and what he meant to the community.
"It was a little more emotional than I thought it would be," Scott said. "When you get here and you start thinking about all of the time our family spent down here, it brings back a lot of great memories."
Children and adults alike painted rocks with inspirational messages about Scott and placed them around the bench.
Another way the family keeps Noah's memory alive is through "Team Noah Forever," a non-profit organization designed to help foster children experience a better life. The organization recently sent a group of foster children to Disneyland.
