SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The annual 'Best of' edition from the Santa Barbara Independent has hit the racks.

It comes with great anticipation not just for the businesses hoping to get the top honors, but also from the readers. They were the ones to choose either with an on line ballot or by filling out their choices on a special page and mailing it in.

For many residents it is an annual guide to some of the best paces to eat, shop, get medical care, take care of their pets or have their cars repaired.

A special event called the "Best Fest" was held at the Carriage Museum Thursday night.  It included a  meet and greet atmosphere with the winners.  Many of the restaurants and bars were on hand to serve their winning items and encourage the guests to come by.

Performances also took place from the award winning   Arthur Murray Studio and La Boheme Dancers.  Top DJ Darla Bea provided the music for the routines and dancing.

Among the winners were: The Habit for Best Burger Grill; Brophey Bros. for Best Clam Chowder; The Honor Bar for Best Montecito Restaurant; The Home Improvement Center for Best Hardware Store; Dr. Cory Bream for Best Optometrist; KJEE for Best Radio Station; Jeff Bridges for Best Local Celebrity; and KEYT's John Palminteri (@KEYTNC3Johnp) for Best Twitter Follow (and finalist for Best Local Celebrity.)

It even included categories such as Best Place to have a Protest. That went to De La Guerra Plaza.

A full listing can be found on the racks or on line at:
