SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A popular Santa Barbara books store is now under new ownership.
The former owner of the Mesa Bookstore passed the baton to its new owners Sunday during an intimate ceremony.
Diane Arnold and D.J. Palladino invited customers to watch the changing of the guard and tour the bookstore.
Although many bookstores across the country are feeling the strain of the unpredictable book sales, the couple say they aren't in it for the profits.
"If you could see our house, it looks similar to this anyway so now we have a place to bring our books," Palladino said. "Diane has been a customer for 20 years and she didn't even know it was for sale, but there was a buy your honey a bookstore sign in the window."
The former owners still own another bookstore called Broadway Books in Santa Maria.
Book lovers will be happy to know there are still options to find the used books they are looking for.
