VENTURA, Calif. - Members of the LGBTQ community showed their pride in Ventura on Saturday.
They took part in the Ventura County Pride Festival at Promenade Park near the Ventura Pier.
The event included live music, drag performances and a gender free zone.
Participants said they think the festival has a deeper meaning this year.
Elisheva Hochberg-Miller said, "It is different, I mean especially with the events of this past weekend. We are all so shocked and afraid right now, and it's comforting to have people like us around that are also celebrating love."
The annual pride festival is a fundraiser for the New Community Resource center.
It wraps up on Sunday.
