SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The popular pumpkin patch at Lane Farms in the Goleta Valley area is open for business. Even on a summer-like autumn day.
KEYT caught up with new moms and families making the most of the picture-perfect weather Thursday afternoon, visiting the animal farm, taking the tractor for a pseudo test-drive and picking out the perfect pumpkin.
"This year we're coming two or three times a week since we live really close and this is his favorite," said Stephanie Logan as she pulled her 2-year-old son Luke off the tractor. "So, I think we'll be here a lot this October."
"We kind of slid in here before the crowds," said Kathy Valencia. "We love the pumpkin selection and they've got the perfect and imperfect ones. And, they have a farm here and it's a local family and we're born and raised here so, we love it."
Owners John and Ruth Lane say that the winter rains seemed to help this year's pumpkin crop. The largest weighed in at roughly 200 pounds.
Lane Farms is open every day from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. through Halloween. The corn maze closes each night at 8:00 p.m.
Lane Farms is located at 308 S. Walnut Lane.
