OXNARD, Calif. - Sailor Dick McNish dressed his boat with maritime flags for opening day festivities at the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club in Oxnard's Channel Islands Harbor on Saturday.
His all-wooden sailboat named Cheerio II used to owned by the late actor Errol Flynn.
Cheero II is ready to race from Newport Beach to Ensenada, Mexico later this month and again during the McNish Classic in July, after Mcnish celebrates his 90th birthday at the PCYC.
Yacht Club fleet nurse Jana Danza said opening day is a good time to remind sailors and boaters of safety in the harbor and at sea.
The boats on display during the opening day celebration included a floating tiki bar.
On Sunday the club will host an early morning boat parade.
