SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Hundreds of people flocked to Santa Maria's Pioneer Park Saturday afternoon for Santa Maria-style barbeque, locally-made beer and live music, all for a good cause.
The Santa Maria Noontime Kiwanis Club and the City of Santa Maria came together to host what they hope will be an annual "Brews and Ques" event at Pioneer Park in Santa Maria.
Santa Maria-style barbeque and local-brewed beer were the headliners, but there was also family fun and games for kids, there was live music, a local celebrity-judged food contest and a perfect day weather-wise to come out to the park and enjoy all of it.
"The fundraiser is Brews and Ques, so people are able to come on out, buy a ticket, enjoy some fantastic Santa Maria-style barbeque and some local brew and join in the festivities", says organizer Jason Davie, "we've sold out today so the response has been fantastic."
Money raised at the the Brews and Ques event will go to the annual Elks Rodeo Queen competition which is now underway which ultimately benefits local non-profits and youth scholarships.
