VENTURA, Calif. - Men and women wore kilts made of family tartans to the Seaside Highland Games at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura.
The weekend event wrapped up with a bagpipe and drum competition.
Mike Reynolds performs with the Pacific Coast Highlanders.
He said there are four judges scoring the musicians.
"They are listening for execution, how well you start the pipe, playing them in tune, just a lot of technical stuff," said Reynolds
He said they win a little bit of money and a lot of satisfaction.
"We are all friends, it is a lot of fun," he said.
The games also included athletic competitions for all ages and an expo full of traditional Scottish. Welsh and Irish merchandise.
