Since the very first MTV Video Music Awards 30 years ago in 1984, the show has always provided memorable moments. And this year's edition was no different.
2014: A year after her twerk-filled performance set tongues wagging, Miley Cyrus took a different approach, stopping short of the stage after winning Video of the Year for "Wrecking Ball." Instead, she sent a young man who identified himself as Jesseto accept her award on "behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youths in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now." Cyrus appeared to be near tears as Jesse, who said he was homeless, read his speech.
