Garth Brooks to perform at California...

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - Country superstar Garth Brooks will perform at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles in July.

The five-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, along with his wife Trisha Yearwood, will take the stage in the Chumash Grandstand Arena on July 27 at 7:30 p.m.

"It's a huge deal," said Jay Turner, Sunny Country 102.5 FM morning personality. "The Mid-State Fair booked plenty of big acts before. They had Aerosmith before. They had KISS in full makeup, they had George Strait back in the day, they've had the biggest of the big, but one would have to say Garth is about the biggest ever."

Turner, who has met Brooks, said the reaction when the announcement was made live on-the-air this morning at 8 a.m. was immediately overwhelming.

"It blew up instantly," said Turner. "Social media, as you could imagine went crazy. People wondering is it true? It's true."

For local fans, having the opportunity to watch their favorite singer perform on the Central Coast is almost too good to be true.

"I'm very excited about Garth Brooks coming to Paso Robles," said Sarah Mendoza. "I maybe jumped up and down a little bit, maybe screamed a little bit and then I definitely started plotting about how to get tickets."

Tickets for the concert go on sale this Friday.

As with all Brooks concerts, all tickets will be priced the same. Tickets for this show will be $79.98.

"He's really pro fan in that regard," said Turner. "Same ticket prices and first come first serve. All of the seats cost the same amount of money, whether they're front row seats or nosebleed seats and they go on sale chronologically, so the sooner you get on Friday morning, the better seats you'll get."

Mendoza has seen Brooks perform live once before. She says the show is worth the money.

"He's amazing," Mendoza said. "That concert that he does is life-changing. If you can only see one concert in your life, it's Garth Brooks."

Brooks fan Eunice Lopez has not seen the country star perform. She's hoping to score tickets when they go on sale later this week.

"I'm planning on going. I would like to get tickets, but they're going to go very fast. I've heard it might be minutes,"  said Lopez.

If she's successful in her ticket purchase, Lopez adds she knows she's in for a great performance.

"I've heard that he puts on a good show and engages the audience and it sounds fun," Lopez said.

Brooks has been at the very top of the wish list for fair management for several years. Tickets could break all fair records when they are released for public sale on Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m.

The native Oklahoman is currently performing on the three-year Garth Brooks World Tour with Yearwood.

The tour, which is nearing its completion, has sold more than 5.5 million tickets in two-and-a-half years. The ticket sales make it the biggest concert tour happening right now in the world.
