OJAI, Calif. - The Humane Society of Ventura County is in desperate need of donations as volunteers continue to house hundreds of animals displaced by the Thomas Fire.
The humane society's Ojai office is in most need as more and more animals come in with nowhere else to go.
Humane Society of Ventura County director of community outreach Greg Cooper said donations are coming in and are appreciated but they are still struggling to keep the lights on. Cooper says a cash donation is most helpful.
“Money is our number one ask since we can appropriate the funds to specific needs for fire relief,” Cooper said.
Cooper says many people have offered to volunteer their time and help out at the station. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the shelter's volunteer coordinator via email.
