SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A family of ducks is safe after quick work by law enforcement.
Around 10 a.m. Friday, California Highway Patrol Officer Kessinger responded to northbound Highway 101 near the Turnpike exit to a report of a mother and her ducklings trying to cross the freeway.
Officer Kessinger corralled about a dozen ducklings and the mother duck to the side road. Animal Control and Vector Control arrived and placed the duck family in a cage for safety.
Highway traffic flow was not disrupted during this animal safety operation.
