Arrest Made In Meiners Oaks Murder
Meiners Oaks, CA-- An Ojai Valley teenager is dead and another is in custody following a gang related stabbing.
Witnesses say it happened outside a Meiners Oaks home on the 2400 block of Maricopa Highway following a party in the nearby Arbolata neighborhood. Ventura County's medical examiner says, 16-year-old Seth Scarminach died from stab wounds to the neck and chest at the scene early Sunday morning. On Sunday evening, deputies arrested a 14-year-old suspect at his Mira Monte home. Friends of the victim left flowers at the scene and wore red bandannas in remembrance of the victim. They believe red sparked the violence because it represents a rival gang color. Fundraisers are being planned to help the victim's family pay for the funeral. KEY News Ventura County Bureau Chief Tracy Lehr has more on the circumstances surrounding the violence. |
