Search And Rescue Looking For Volunteers
Santa Barbara, CA-- The Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue Team is looking for new members who want to be part of the life saving crew.
Even though they work side by side with the Sheriff and Fire Departments, the search and rescue team members are volunteers. They have 25 in the ranks now, and would like to have a staff of around 40. "We're looking for additional members to have enough members to respond at any time so that we can respond adequately to whatever call comes up," said Nelson Trichler, a Search and Rescue Incident Commander. Search and rescue team members often get called out to find missing hikers, along with crash victims and lost Alzheimer's patients. Trichler said, "It's always great to find someone and help them get back to their family." They are funded through grants, and community donations. If you're interested in joining, you need to pass a background check and attend a five day of training session. For information: www.sbcsar.org |
