Ex-Ventura College Coach Charged With Theft
VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Former Ventura College coach and athletic director Greg Winslow has been charged with the theft of tuition money and diverting basketball program funds to his personal bank account.
The 46-year-old Winslow surrendered and was booked Wednesday on charges of felony grand theft and misappropriation of public funds. Defense attorney Ron Bamieh says Winslow was later released on $10,000 bail. Prosecutors say Winslow funneled public funds into his bank account. He also allegedly helped provide false information on student athlete admission applications so they could be classified as California residents. The district attorney's office says that resulted in a loss of about $40,000 in tuition money to Ventura College. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
