Couple Accused Of Stealing Thousands Of Books

Simi Valley, CA-- A Simi Valley couple is under arrest, they are accused of stealing books from a local publisher and selling them for profit.

Jose and Risa Hernandez allegedly stole thousands of books from Newbury Park-based Sage Publications.

The publisher says 23,000 books were stolen from outdoor storage containers. The books were being stored until recyclers was able to pick them up and properly dispose of them.

Instead, police say the couple sold the books without permission via an internet-based business.

Police estimate the resale value of the books to be more than $1 million.
