Tea Fire Charges Pending
It has been nearly two months since the November 13 Tea Fire broke out in the foothills above Santa Barbara and Montecito, and the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office remains mostly silent on the issue.
Days after the fire was contained, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown announced in a press conference that as many as 10 suspects have been named in the case. The unidentified suspects had allegedly started a bonfire the night before the fire broke out, which had smoldered and eventually re-ignited due to high winds. The District Attorney's Office issued its last public statement on the investigation on December 4, 2008. Tuesday, the District Attorney's Office did tell KEY News it will be a matter of weeks until something happens in court. KEY News Reporter Mike DeFina took that news to locals. Here's what they had to say. |
