Atascadero, CA-- A 71-year-old Atascadero man is behind bars after a an investigation into two child molestation cases. Police believe Doyle
Gibbons is responsible for molesting a 4-year-old girl and is the prime suspect in a molestation case stemming from 2000.

The 4-year-old victim's mother filed a report with Atascadero Police two weeks ago after her daughter exhibited signs of abuse.
Through an investigation detectives were able to confirm the child's claims of abuse.

During the investigation, police uncovered similarities between this case and a cold case from the year 2000. Becuase of insufficient evidence at the time, authorities were unable to charge and prosecute Gibbons.

After securing a search warrant, detectives arrested 71-year-old Gibbons at his Navajoa Avenue home in Atascadero. Gibbons was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on numerous child sex crime charges. He is being held on $1,250,000 bail.
