Galactic Collision Creates Quite A Spectacle
Some local astronomers have helped capture a spectacular event unfolding in a galaxy far, far away. Two UC Santa Barbara professors who are part of an international team of astronomers have captured an amazing picture of galaxy clusters colliding with each other. The images were photographed by Nasa's Hubble Telescope. Scientists believe the images they're seeing may be are over 5.7 billion light years away and that the collision could provide insight into the mysteries of dark matter.
