Goleta Hotel Project Passes First Hurdle
The Goleta Planning Commission has given the green light for developers to build a hotel and restaurant at the city's busiest intersection. The 112-room Rincon Palms Hotel and Restaurant would be located on the corner of Hollister Avenue and Storke Road. Commissioners unanimously approved the project Monday night. Traffic was a major consideration including how to improve flow during peak hours. The hotel is expected to bring in about half a million dollars in occupancy tax to Goleta in it's first year and one million dollars each year after that. The Goleta City Council is expected to vote on the project later this summer.
