Outrage Over The N-word At School Board Meeting
Carpinteria alumni, parents and students are upset over a board members choice of words last Tuesday during a highly attended school board meeting. Beverly Grant, one of the board members who voted in favor of replacing the current Carpinteria High Warrior mascot had a difficult time explaining her vote last week. In an analogy to compare the current situation with situations past, Ms. Grant used a word that many felt was inappropriate. A word that garners controversy where ever it is spoken. Now parents and alumni are taking matters into their own hands.
Ms. Grant did tell Key News after this story aired that she apologizes for her comment and did not mean to offend anyone. KEY News Reporter Arti Nehru has the details. |
