Victim Recovering from Drive-by Shooting

Written by Kyra Jenkins

A victim of a drive-by is being treated at St. John's Hospital for a number of wounds and now police are searching for the drive- by shooter.
The shooting happened when Alejandro Tapia arrived home and parked in the garage behind the Cloyne Road apartment he shares with is family. The 20-year-old was shot not once but five times in the upper body.
Even children in the house heard it happen just before midnight. Family members kept in close contact with the young man's parents who spent the day by their son's bedside at the hospital.
They are afraid if they speak out retaliation will follow in a part of town protected by a gang injunction. All they want to do is stay positive in hopes the 20-year-old survives.
Police are looking for witnesses and information that will lead to an arrest. Anyone with information can remain anonymous by calling the crime stopper hot-line at 385-TALK.
