SANTA BARBARA, Cali. - Breast cancer survivors and their friend are in the midst of a long walk from Santa Barbara to Carpinteria this weekend.
The AVON 39 event began at Chase Palm Park on Saturday morning.
About 1600 people raised $1800 each to participate.
They wore pink and camped in pink tents on the polo fields in Summerland.
They plan to cross the finish line at the beach in Carpinteria on Sunday afternoon.
AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer Santa Barbara is one of seven events nationwide.
It is the fifteenth year AVON has sponsored the fundraiser.
During the closing ceremony the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade will award checks to breast cancer organizations serving Santa Barbara County.
