Event Description

On Sunday, May 18, leaders from faith communities in Ventura County will join with anti-LNG, environmental justice, and coastal protection activists for a “Blessing of the Ocean,” to be held at Ventura Harbor. The event will commemorate the one year anniversary of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s veto of the Cabrillo Port LNG terminal. The event will be a celebration featuring ceremonies led by spiritual leaders including a Catholic Deacon, a Chumash Elder, a Jewish Rabbi, and other representatives from Central Coast faith communities. The event will also raise awareness about other LNG terminal proposals in the region, as well as the clean up needed of the toxic waste at the former Halaco site in Oxnard.
