NewsChannel 3 Reporter and Sports Anchor
Joe Buttitta came to KEYT in April of 2012 after nearly 4 years at KABC-TV in Los Angeles. While at KABC he worked as an assignment editor, web producer and apprentice.
Joe has also performed a variety of duties at KEYT. He is reporting and anchoring both news and sports, has co-hosted the very popular Friday Football Focus and within his first seven months at KEYT Joe won the prestigious Southern California 2012 Golden Mike Award for “Best Sports Segment”.
Versatility has always been one of Joe’s strong suits. He graduated from Royal High School in Simi Valley, Moorpark College, and Cal State University, Northridge. At Royal High Joe was captain of the varsity football and basketball teams and a starter on the varsity golf team.
It was at Moorpark College that he seriously delved into broadcasting by creating, writing and anchoring the popular “Raider Rundown”, an eclectic campus-wide television show that featured academics, news and sports highlights. For his efforts he won the department’s highest award.
Joe majored in Broadcast Journalism at CSUN while continuing his practical education at KABC doing everything from gripping and engineering to working the Academy Awards in a tuxedo. After graduating CSUN in December of 2011, Joe began his search for a job.
His travels brought him to stations in Illinois, Arizona and Santa Barbara. Each visit had its positives and negatives, but he had his eye firmly set on KEYT. “It felt right in Santa Barbara,” says Joe. ”I love the area and the people at KEYT made me feel comfortable. I’m so glad they offered me a job.” Joe reports and anchors both news and sports. “It was the combination of news and sports that really helped me decide. I know I made the right decision.”
When Joe isn’t working he spends his time rooting for the NY Yankees and thinks the NFL’s Red Zone show is the best thing ever.
