KEYT-TV Channel 3 is committed to providing you the best reception possible. We've taken steps to improve our off-air digital signal in Northern Santa Barbara County and all of San Luis Obispo County by installing state-of the art digital equipment and increasing the transmission power as high as legally allowed at our facilities on Cuesta Peak.
If you watch television off-air in these areas (meaning you do not receive a TV signal via cable systems or satellite provider) and have not been receiving a signal on Digital Channel 3.1 (KEYT-TV) & Digital Channel 3.2 (MyNetworkTV/RTN), or it's been weak or intermittently going out on you, simply try rescanning the channels on your television set or converter box. Your box should automatically pick up our new signal.
Because we've been able to extend our reach and broadcast to more of Northern Santa Barbara County and all of San Luis Obispo County, we're asking you to help us spread the word to fans who might not have been able to watch us for a while. If you know someone who says they haven't been able to receive KEYT Channel 3 or having trouble receiving our signal, tell them to rescan too!
Below are some simple steps to perform a re-scan on your Television or Digital Receiver. All converter boxes and HDTV's are different in terms of rescanning procedures.
The following is a general guide, but the steps or the terminology may be different for your device:
- Press the "Menu" button on your converter box, converter box remote, HDTV, or HDTV remote
- Go to "Setup" or "Settings"
- Go to "Installation" or "System" or "Channels"
- Go to "Scan channels", "Program channels", "Autoscan", "Autoprogram", or "Autotuning"
- Press "Select" or "Enter" or "OK" to start the scan
Note: Typically, you will need to press the right arrow button or "Select", "Enter", or "OK" to choose an option. The up/down and left/right arrow buttons or the up/down channel and volume buttons should move you through the menu choices.
One of the easiest ways to make many converter boxes rescan for available channels is to simply unplug the converter's power cord from the outlet, wait three minutes, and then plug it back in, again. This should cause the converter to automatically rescan for available channels. Also, please be aware that outdoor antennas typically provide a better quality signal.
Other Helpful Tips
- Perform a rescan if you suddenly lose a digital channel that you had previously received.
- Remember to scan periodically to make sure that you are receiving all of the digital channels that are available in your area.
- If you use a digital-to-analog converter box, you will still need to use an antenna to receive DTV signals.
- You do not need a converter box if you already have a digital TV set for watching DTV.
- In cases where no TV stations can be received, tune to a local AM or FM station for weather alerts.
- DTV reception can be affected by nearby moving vehicles. To improve reception, try moving or re-orienting your antenna.
- Shadows from moving vehicles can affect DTV reception. To improve reception, try moving or re-orienting your antenna.
- You can minimize the effects of high winds or storms by re-orienting your antenna to obtain the strongest available signal.
